Larraine is hands down the most fantastic babysitter I’ve ever had! My son Dyson has been going to her in home daycare for almost 2 years now.
Larraine is so kind, patient and caring. She treats all the kids like they’re her own. Dyson views her as an extra grandma, and she thinks of him as part of the family.
It’s fantastic to know that my son is so well cared for while I’m at work. One of the many things I love about bringing him here is how Larraine does schoolwork with him. He basically gets private tutoring with her. The amount he’s learned (reading, writing and math etc.), is amazing! She makes it fun for him and keeps him engaged. He’s never been to preschool and yet I feel he is more advanced than if he had!
The learning activities don’t stop when they’re out and about either. She always finds ways to squeeze in more educational songs in the car, little games they can play verbally and more.
Larraine’s house is a kids’ wonderland. No kid wants to leave. My 15-year-old son is jealous because he wants to go play in her basement! She has toys and activities for all ages, a playground in the backyard, child’s pool, bikes, ride-on toys etc. Also, her backyard is gigantic for the kids to run around in. Dyson also loves all the arts and crafts they make together. On top of all that, she takes them on field trips and lots of little outings…The Columbus Zoo, Street Fairs, parks, museums, waterparks, picnics, out to lunch and tons more. She even throws whole birthday parties for each child!
Most importantly, Larraine does everything she does because she loves the children, and it really shows. Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without her. I have a very difficult work schedule, and Larraine has so lovingly accommodated me and at times bent over backwards to help us.
She’s so vibrant and energetic, a very positive person to be around! Dyson feels at home in her care and I’m so grateful that I found her!

I have known Larraine for over 4 decades. She and I have been good friends during this time – even though she and I live in different states now. When we are together, we simply pick up from where we were and bring each other up to date…because we just know each other’s heart that well.
Larraine and I are very different in some ways. I am always attracted to her outgoing and expressive personality. If I had to express her in one word, it would be passionate…about whatever she does. I was not surprised when she retired from being an accomplished businesswoman to her in-home daycare that she would be any different. She renovated her home beyond what you could imagine bringing a wide array of toys and games to her new environment.
Most importantly, Larraine just cares! She and I both have shared the love of children. She truly loves all of the ‘littles’ in her care and accepts responsibility wholeheartedly, recognizing it is a privilege to be entrusted with each one of them. Every parent knows finding daycare is hard. Our first thought is safety and security, second is cost, and in between all of that is how we feel when we leave our children with someone.
I had moved here from out of state with literally no one. Larraine was one of the first people I had met in my search for suitable daycare so I could start my new job.
She was kind, intelligent, caring, and she was down to earth. That was six years ago. Through the years she has become family with us. She has helped my children grow up. I don’t mean “Here’s a TV show. Let me know when you’re hungry” kind of growing either. She took the time to teach my children, feed them, do arts and craftys with them, special projects, games and during the summer they basically had a water park at her home for everyone to enjoy. It reminds me of when we were kids, and we got to go to our grandparents because that was our parents’ daycare for us. I know my kids are safe because now that they are all grown up, they just want to go over to Larraine’s and visit with her and Tom and their cats. How cool is that?

To say that Larraine is a great babysitter is an understatement. It does not fully express how much she cares about each child personally and how she is so interactive with them. She doesn’t just sit them down in front of a TV and leave them there to entertain themselves. She instead is very involved and if they are watching TV, it typically educational and Larraine is working with them to make sure they understand and are learning. She has tons of educational materials for all ages. I know she has given many young children a head-start for going to school with knowing how to actually read, write and even do some math! But she also plays with them and freely gives hugs and snuggles so that every child feels loved and cared for. She is also flexible with working with people and their schedule. It’s a home away from home environment with an emphasis on total care for a child’s mind, body and soul that leaves everyone feeling good and confident about their childcare situation.

I would like to give a brief review of Larraine Boyd and her childcare performance.
First, Larraine is the very best when it comes to knowing how to care for an infant and preschoolers. Her home is beautiful, clean, and full of activity items for play. She has places for each child to sleep/napping. She is careful with the kids. She prepares wonderful food, and her home is just as fun on the outside as it is inside. Larraine treats her friends in such a way that they feel very cared about and liked, and she treats the children in the same way. She is gentle and kind when children misbehave and she puts them on a timeout or has them surrender a toy they are playing with, or by making them apologize, or she tries to teach them how to be a peacemaker with other kids. Whatever the problem, she always handles it well. The children LOVE her! As a parent, I love that they love her. No parent could ask for more. That’s the best part of it. I’m entirely at peace when the kids are in her care. She engages with the kids all day and in all things. They are excited when they arrive and whenever she plans special events for them like go to the library, a park, or do special crafts. She has always been an over-the-top fun person for everyone but especially for children in her care. Based on my experience, she is every parent’s dream of a daycare babysitter. She treats ever child at their own level and all children feel her love. I would recommend Larraine as the best you could find!
